This laser type has a 10600 nm wave length and is in the group of ablative fractional lasers. It functions as a fractional erbium laser but with a stronger mechanical, thermal effect.
This laser provokes microscopic damages underneath one's skin, which are then ejected and replaced with new tissue. The laser has great penetration depth, and during the treatment a great amount of energy is released in comparison to the erbium laser. That is why the treatment is in average 1-3 days longer in comparison to the fractional erbium laser. The laser is used for removal of wrinkles, scars and benign formations as well as for skin rejuvenation and tightening. We can state that today this laser has completely replaced the classic Co2 laser.
