CO2 laser

The Co2 laser has a 10600 nm wave length and primarily affects water molecules which absorb optical energy. As a result great amount of energy with a mechanical and thermal effect is released. It functions in a similar way to the erbium laser but penetrates deeper and has a stronger thermal effect.

The laser is used for removal of scars, nods, wrinkles and for skin tightening and tissue burning. Lately the laser is used for removal of benign skin changes and burning of tissue. It is not used as much for removal of wrinkles and scars or for skin tightening. The reason is the long recovery period (3-4 weeks) with possible complications. Targeted individual application on minor scars and wrinkles is an exception. Lately the classic Co2 laser is being replaced with the fractional Co2 laser which has the same effect but a significantly shorter recovery period and has almost no complications.
